5th October Millie, Rosemary and Adele take to the Lakes
Adele would like to introduce Millie who has recently joined AP Mountaineering. At 1900kg sh is a little heavier than her owner but is already proving to be an assett.

Millie taking a proud spot in Langdale.

Leaving Millie behind Rosemary and Adele headed off for an ascent of Jacks Rake to perfect Rosemary's scrambling technique.

Exhibiting no fear Rosemary decided to go for her ffirts Rock climb the next day. No better choice than Jackdaw ridge ( In Big Boots). The Monsoon broke earlier and as other retreated the girls pushed on through topping out after a few hours of short pitches and a few squeals!

A smiling wet Rosemary on the second stance of Jackdaw Ridge (D) Shepherds.

Wet and cold Millie proved to be a perfect changing room for the girls before Tea and Quiche at Shepherds Cafe

Not put off Rosemary is now hooked and is looking forward to more preferably dry rock.

On Saturday Rosemary and Adele will be heading to Morroco for an ascent of Toubkal.

Irish Rock
Today was a double venue day and started with a drive out to
Glendalough. This was not work for Adele today as Simon was her guide.

Simon Guiding Pennington

After an hours walk they reached thhe bottom of the crag and had to go for the *** Classic Quartz Gully ( HS 4b). Simon had raved about the second pitch and even after Adele had said he could have all the glory and lead, she could not resist it and persuaded him to hand over the rack after the first pitch. Smiling Simon watched Pennington stretch her legs as far as she could on the crux move and then scurry back before taking a higher route which enabled her to eventually balance over into the crack. Once established on the belay Adele took a look out and up the Glen and was amazed by her first Irish rock experience. The descent however was not so amazing, and soon Adele had wet feet as they descended some wet gully. Not forgiving Simon for getting her best Meindl approach shoes dirty they returned to the car hoping it would be drier in Dublin.

Wanting to seek out another venue Simon took Adele to Dalkey Quarry. Here Simon grabbed back the lead for a while and then Adele over enthusiastic approach left her swearing on a blank slab wanting some gear. Scared of falling off and spoling a forthcoming trip to Morroco and Nepal Adele gingerly (with help from Simon) reversed some very delicate moves back down to the ground. Not wanting to give in Adele went for the route next door which was a little easier and thankfully had some gear.

A brilliant day out and a big THANKYOU to Simon

Adele will be leaving Ireland in a few hours and will be driving North to the Lakes for a weekend of Scrambling.

No News is good News
It has been a busy two weeks for AP Mountaineering since playing on the Fiddler.

After three days private guiding in North Wales where the rain and wind made for an exciting time on the tops and the slightly damp rock added extra spice to a day in the Moelwyns, Adele headed back to the peak to do an SPA training for Thornbridge Outdoors

Setting up Top Ropes at Birchins

As the Sun came oout on Monday Adele was busy prparing talks which she presented at the Richmond Walking and Boot Festival and Trinity Cathaolic School in Middlesbrough. In the early hours of Wednesday morning Adele was flying to Dublin where she presented two more talks at the University College Dublin. Much more talking than walking this week but today Adele is off to sample some Irish Rock.

Fiddler for Fun

Diana wind blown and wet on the Fiddler

Not deterred by the weather Adele and Diana made a dash for the Fiddler. It was probably more of a slow plod rather than a sprint as the water poured into their boots down their necks. Ham butties and cake at the top renewed spirits before they ran down to clearing skies and midges. It was then time for Adele to drive back which was a little too exciting. With the car going sideways Adele curtailed her journey home but did manage to sneak a couple of hours at Kendal Climbing wall yesterday.

This evening Adele is driving South to do an After dinner Speech for Shell.

There are still places on the Mountain Leader Training course 9th to 14th October and Adele is also leading a trip to Aconcagua for Jagged Globe leaving on the 30th November.
Please contact Adele if your interested.

Walking and exploring
Today with a flight to catch the girls only had time for a short walk around the coast line. Adele scurried around  exploring the Reiff Cliffs and didnt have much luck in persuading Diana to be a belay bunny. After soloing a short route Adele has decided that she will be back! Tommorow Adele and Diana will be going for a walk on the ridge of Ben Mor Coigach if the storm that forecasted does not materialise.
