Off to Mt Kenya 29th December
After a short Christmas break in the Lake District Adele is heading back to Mt Kenya. In 2009 Adele climbed Neilion but did not cross the gates through to Batian due to bad weather. This time Adele is heading off with three experienced climers and one trekker to reascend Neilion and hopefully top out on the highest peak in Kenya.

A proper Scottish winter day 17th Dec Ginny and Adele back in the Coire after their wild day on the ridge.
At 4pm yesterday Adele and Ginny decided to go East to the Cairngorms. Arriving at Aviemore YHA at 10pm , there was only time to have a brew before bedding down. The forecast was looking good and the plan to go into Core –nan Sneacda executed in the morning. The promise of excellent visibility was not quite happening and teams were already returning from the white abyss, unable to find their routes. Following a quick chat with the Scarborough boys Adele and Ginny turned through 90 degrees and headed up the boulder strewn slope to the Ficall Ridge. Not too windy and warm in their Goretex armour the ridge provided plenty of entertainment. Navigating back down to the top of the goat track the wind forced them back but with a bit of determination and will power Ginny and Adele got though this barrier and descended into the Coire wondering what all the fuss had been about. The coire was full of people practicing their winter skills and enjoying the snow. Food was of more interest for Ginny and Adele before they strolled out enjoying the only views of the day as the setting sun turned the sky pink.

RGS Worcester Ladakh 2011 to Peru 2013
After our very successful trip to Ladakh this year The Royal Grammar School Worcester has launched their 2013 Expedition to Peru
RGS Worcester students crossing the Lassimola Pass 2011
The expedition to Ladakh was fantastic and challenged everyone. Credit must go to all the students who took part in the expedition and off course Mr Robert Gibson ( Teacher) who made it possible.
In July 2013 an expedition to Peru to trek through the Huayhuash and to climb Mount Pisco 5600m has been proposed. A number of students have expressed an interest in this expedition that Adele will be leading. For any students at RGS who may be thinking of going or would like to talk about the trip in more detail please feel free to e mail Adele on email@example.com or catch Mr Gibson at School

Getting Ready for Winter! 11 Dec 2011 Ginny and Andy ascending a gully at Brown Cove Crags.Despite an iffy forecast Adele, Ginny and Andy set off early from the east side of the A66 and landed in the car park at 8.30am. Refusing to pay £7 for the days parking especially as the toilets were closed Adele found a lay by to park Milly and only added another 500m to the days walk. Having low expectations Adele, Andy and Ginny maintained enthusiasm and walked up the path towards the crags. After skirting around in some deep snow ( especially for the heavier ones of the party) the team were pleasantly suprised with a little gully that led the way to the top. Helmets on but no ropes or crampons necessary Adele did her usual pep talk and even demonstrated that there was a weakly bonded layer of snow and care was required to kick good steps. Just good fun , not hard and perhaps only 35 degrees the little gully provided a brilliant way onto the Helvellyn Plateau. Customary cheese sandwiches and quavers in the Helvellyn Shelter made the day before descending back to the valley. On a serious note: The snow at present is potentially quite dangerous with a layer of graupel providing a very weakly bonded layer. On test a layer about 10 inches deep slides with very little pressure. Please take care and I would leave any more serious gully climbing until we have had a couple of good freeze thaw cycles.
