Ben Nevis 25th FebToday Raymond, Kaj and Adele poked their noses onto the Ben to have a look. It was very mild and ice was falling from the butresses which were getting blacker by the minute. Despite the weather they did find a little bit of ice to clamber up as they made their way up No 4 Gully
On topping out they managed to battle against the winds and have a look at the tops of a number of other climbs for future reference. Lets hope the conditions improve for the weekend.

Learning to Retreat
Today Adele Kaj and Raymond went to do the first pitch of Curved Ridge to practice an abseil retreat. With freezing levels way above the summits, a very high avalanche risk and persistant rain this prooved to be a suitable venue to learn some new skills. Totally drenched but warm and happy the team were pleased with their day out and even happier with coffe and cake at the cafe. Peter and Aileen stayed indoors today ( a wise decision) and had a fun packed day with Sam at the ice factor. Tommorow looks like another difficult day before getting colder for the weekend.
